IPTV EPG Not Working? Fix Missing or Wrong TV Guide Data

Fix IPTV EPG problems by checking time zone, guide refresh, mapping, player cache, account data and source coverage in the right order.

An Electronic Program Guide combines schedule data, channel identifiers, time-zone handling and a player's display logic. If one part is missing or mismatched, the guide can be empty, delayed, shifted by hours or attached to the wrong channel.

Start by identifying the pattern. An empty guide for every channel is different from a few missing listings, and correct programs at the wrong time point to a different cause than no data at all.

Identify the EPG symptom

Check whether the guide is missing everywhere, only in one category or only on a few channels. Note whether channel names load normally and whether current programs appear at the wrong time. Compare the same account in another supported player only if needed.

EPG is not available for every source. A few blank entries can be a coverage limitation rather than a broken account.

Check date, time and time zone

Set the streaming device to obtain date and time automatically, then verify the correct time zone. A guide shifted by exactly one or several hours often indicates a device or player offset issue. Daylight-saving changes can also expose stale settings.

Restart the player after correcting time settings so it can rebuild the guide display.

Refresh guide data correctly

Use the player's normal EPG refresh or update command. Allow it to finish before closing the app. Repeatedly pressing refresh can create overlapping tasks on a slow device and does not add data that the source does not provide.

If the player offers a separate playlist refresh, update the catalog first and the EPG second. Avoid deleting all app data unless you have recorded credentials and simpler steps have failed.

Review the login and EPG source

Some account methods supply guide data automatically, while M3U setups can require a separate EPG address or correct mapping. Enter URLs exactly and keep them private. A playlist loaded with the wrong account type can show channels without the expected guide.

Ask support whether EPG should be automatic for the recommended player and account method. Do not copy an unrelated public XML guide into a paid account without understanding its rights and channel mapping.

Compare player behavior

If the provider confirms guide data is present, test a second compatible player to determine whether the first app is caching or mapping it poorly. Record the original settings before switching. Different players normalize channel names and time offsets differently.

Update the affected player from its official source. If only one version has the issue, report the app version and device OS.

Send a precise EPG report

Include the player, device, account method, category, affected channel, current local time, expected program and screenshot with credentials hidden. State whether the guide is blank, shifted or incorrect.
